Coqui Francolin

Other Names: Peliperdix coqui

Subspecies/Range: F. c. coqui - South Africa, eastern Namibia & Botswana, north through Zambia, Zimbababwe & Malawi to central & northern Tanzania; F. c. hubbardi - western & southern Kenya; F. c. maharao - Northern Tanzania, Kenya & Ethopia; F. c. spinetorum - Western Africa, Angola to Zambia.

Habitat: Dry scrublands.

Status in Wild: Locally common in the southern regions of its range, uncommon and local in the northeast and uncommon to scare in western Africa.

Avicultural Data

Status in Aviculture: Not known at this time. There were rumors a few years back that this species was to be imported to North America, but I could not validate and believe that there are none in American aviaries at this time.
