Hello, everyone. I have been a lurker for a short while, and I just registered the other day. I MUST say how impressed I am with this forum...quite the impressive array of information!

Currently, I raise Bard Rock chickens, Bobwhite quail, pigeons, and rabbits. Prior to this past Christmas Day (Thursday), I also had the pleasure of raising Red Golden pheasants, Jumbo Ringneck pheasants, and an Eastern turkey. However, my neighbor's dog took it upon himself to tear into my pens and help himself to some of my babies.

Now that we've repaired and reinforced the damaged pens and the neighbor gave away said dog, I guess you could say that I'm looking to restock at this point.

My FIL thought that I was looking too soon, but he obviously doesn't understand the relationship that I had with my pheasants and turkey. In the evenings, I'd sit on my deck and listen to them warble at times during the night. On my off time, I found it to be quite relaxing to sit in the pens with them, offering fresh fruit treats. I found it comical to watch the RG roosters dance for the ladies, and I found it peaceful to find that my ringnecks weren't frightened by my presence (like everyone had warned me they would be). My turkey (Elvis) was just reaching the age where he would respond to a turkey call. Even he was beginning to relax with me.

I'm a foreign language teacher by trade, and I was fascinated to learn the means of communication that my birds used. (The more time I spent with them, the more I learned about them and their communication.)

Thanks again for providing this forum. It's been a godsend for me personally.

Chanda
